The Cat's Out of the Bag

In a small town on the edge of the forest lived the Smith family. One day, the youngest daughter, Susana Smith, accidentally

overheard her parents' conversation. From their words, she gathered they were planning a big surprise for her birthday. She was excited and couldn't wait to find out more. However, her mom warned her that "curiosity killed the cat" and it was better to keep her nose out of adult matters.

Susana, though she tried, couldn't resist the temptation. One day, while playing with her brother Tom Smith, she couldn't hold it in any longer and said, "Tom, I have to tell you something, but promise you won't tell anyone!" Tom, intrigued, promised to keep the secret. Susana, unable to wait any longer, let the cat out of the bag.

Their parents were planning a huge party with all her friends and a big cake. Tom was thrilled, but as siblings often do, they soon began to fight like cats and dogs over who would get to blow out the candles. Their loud argument caught the attention of their mother, who came into the room and immediately knew what had happened.

"Well," she said with a sigh, "the cat's out of the bag now." Susana looked down, feeling a bit guilty, but her mother just smiled. "I guess we'll just have to enjoy the surprise a little earlier than planned."
